New to this, in high school, what is the difference between an intentional foul and a flagrant foul?
Is a flagrant foul an automatic disqualification?

In basketball, a flagrant foul is a serious personal foul. A foul is considered flagrant when it involves excessive or violent contact that could injure the fouled player. The foul may be done purposely or unintentionally. But you are not kicked out of the game for it. Usually a player gets 2 free throws and their team gets possession of the ball.

I like what Downsouth said. Not only that the flagrant has to be caught and typically, from what I have seen it is a foul that the player had been warned about at least once before.
